How to install TeamCity agent manually:

TeamCity overview:

Installing TeamCity 10.0.4 on Ubuntu 14.04 Tema is powerful continuous integration out of the box. It is our build engineer. It is capable of handling any kind of build without pain. It will help you reduce the maintenance cost of the server.

Problem while installation process:

Although TeamCity comes with agent push mechanism. But sometimes it doesn’t work due to multiple issues on network or network level. There are some other manual ways as well. like you can download the package and install it on the server and configure it. But it is not easy as well.
I want to introduce a manual way. I found them by reading how agent push works.
I am assuming you already installed Java 8 on the system before installing agent this. If not please follow this article.

Step 1: Create a file bootstrapper.sh in the directory where you want to install build agent. this file will have following content.

Step 2: Make this file executable.

Step: 3 Run this file using the following command.

You can get this command in failed logs if agent push

This step will configure our build agent. I am assuming you already installed Java 8 on the system before installing agent this. If not please follow this article.

You need to go to our TeamCity instance and allow this agent to connect. After this sometimes it needs to update it self. it will update automatically and update itself.
